1. Who we are

TALBioBank™ is an initiative of [Touch-A-Life Foundation — full legal entity name], [registered address] (“TAL”, “we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy and act as its data controller (or “data fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023).

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit this website or contact us through it, for example to request early access, explore a partnership or ask a question.

This policy does not cover research or health data on the TALBioBank platform. Biological samples, health records and other participant data are handled only under separate written agreements with contributing institutions (such as data contribution, data use and data processing agreements), the consent that participants give, and applicable ethics approvals. Each of these explains how that data is protected. Please do not send any patient or health information through this website.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use our contact form or email us, we collect:

  • your name, work email address, organization, job title and organization type;
  • what you are interested in and anything you write in your message;
  • whether you have chosen to receive news and updates from us.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and the date and time of the request. We use this to keep the website running securely and to diagnose problems.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive and roughly where they are located. If you accept analytics cookies, it uses cookies and collects information such as a device identifier, browser and device type and a shortened IP address; if not, it sends only limited cookieless signals (see section 10). We use this information in aggregate only and do not combine it with details you submit through the contact form. See section 10 for how to opt out.

  • Authorities or advisers, where required by law or needed to protect our rights, users or the public.
  • A successor organization, if TALBioBank is reorganized or transferred, subject to this policy.

6. International transfers

We and our service providers operate in more than one country, including [the United States and India — confirm]. When we transfer personal information across borders, we use appropriate safeguards where the law requires them, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.

7. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for up to [24 months — confirm] after our last contact with you, unless it becomes part of an ongoing relationship or agreement, in which case we keep it for as long as that relationship requires. We keep marketing preferences until you unsubscribe. We keep website logs for a limited period for security purposes. After that, we delete or anonymize the information.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a personal data breach where the law requires it.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • correct or complete inaccurate information;
  • have your information erased;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before you withdrew it;
  • nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated (India);
  • complain to a data protection authority, such as your local supervisory authority in the EU/UK or the Data Protection Board of India.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first. We will reply within the time the applicable law allows. You can unsubscribe from updates at any time using the link in any email we send.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

With your consent, this website uses Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to measure how the website is used. They are provided by Google LLC and are kept for up to two years. These cookies are not set unless you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you decline, or have not yet chosen, Google Analytics sends Google only limited, cookieless signals (such as the page viewed and browser type, without a cookie or other identifier that recognizes you), which Google uses to estimate overall traffic. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics to track you across other websites.

Your choice is saved in your browser for 12 months. You can change it at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page; if you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics on all websites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. To learn how Google uses this information, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

11. Children

This website is intended for professionals and organizations. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information through it. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Other websites

This website links to other websites, including other Touch-A-Life programs such as TALAiVa, TALHospitals, TALMedora and TALBloodAid. Each of those websites has its own privacy policy, which applies when you use it.
